Everybody dies on Nexus. When you do, a window opens with your ways back. This page explains them. Bezgelor currently uses gentle death rules while we test together; the rules from the original game can be switched on later (the numbers for both are at the end).
What happens when you die
- Your character falls, and lies where it fell until you come back. Everyone around you sees it lying there too.
- A short countdown runs (5 seconds). Until it ends, the buttons stay hidden.
- Then you choose how to come back.
A "Death" tip also pops up the first time, explaining the same choices.
Your choices
| Button | Where you wake | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Wake Here | Where your body lies, with half your health | A few credits (10 copper per level: 30 copper at level 3, 5 silver at level 50). Then it needs 2 minutes before you can use it again. |
| Wake at Holo-Crypt | At the nearest Holo-Crypt, with full health | Free |
| Exit Instance (in dungeons and other instances) | Outside the instance, where you went in | Free |
| Accept resurrection (when someone resurrects you) | Where your body lies | Free |
While Wake Here is waiting out its 2 minutes, the button shows the time left. Beside it you may see Wake Here for service tokens: it skips the wait for 10 service tokens.
If you do not choose for 10 minutes, you wake at the nearest Holo-Crypt by yourself.
Which one should I pick?
- Died next to the monsters that beat you? Pick Wake at Holo-Crypt. Waking in the middle of the same pack with half your health usually ends the same way.
- Died alone, far from town? Wake Here saves the walk.
- Is a friend nearby? Ask them to resurrect you: they target your body and use their class's resurrection. Every class has one; it takes them 8 seconds, and you come back with a quarter of your health.
Where are the Holo-Crypts?
Holo-Crypts are the Eldan resurrection machines of the camps and towns. Out in the world you wake at the nearest one in your zone; Bezgelor places them at the camps' Transmat Terminals (and at the few Holo-Crypts the original game's records show), so you land in a safe, staffed place.
In a dungeon or other instance, the Holo-Crypt is the start of the instance at first. As your group gets further (some places light a Holo-Crypt along the way, and every boss you beat counts as one), you wake closer to where you fell.
In dungeons
There is no Wake Here inside dungeons, adventures, expeditions and raids: you wake at the instance's Holo-Crypt, leave with Exit Instance, or wait for a friend to resurrect you. Some instances have a host who comments on your death.
Battlegrounds
Battlegrounds keep their own rules: you come back with your team's next wave, or at once in an arena.
The numbers
| Gentle (now) | Original game | |
|---|---|---|
| Countdown | 5 seconds | about 10 seconds (our guess) |
| Wake Here cost | 10 copper per level | grows with level (our guess: 1 gold at level 50) |
| Wake Here waiting time | 2 minutes | 1 hour, or 30 minutes with Signature |
| Wake Here with service tokens | 10 tokens | 10 tokens |
| Holo-Crypt | free | free |
| Woken automatically after | 10 minutes | 30 minutes (our guess) |
We will switch to the original rules once we have tested the game together; the change is announced first.
