The Field Kit is a small add-on for your game client. It puts bug reporting in a window: a few clicks instead of typed questions. It also answers "why isn't this working?" for your quests and your target, right from the quest tracker, tells you about problems we already know, and asks you to check a fix when a problem you reported is fixed. Testers also get a panel to set up quests for testing.
You don't need it to play or to report bugs. Everything it does, you can also do by typing commands in chat (typing commands). The Field Kit is quicker.
Install it
These steps are for Windows. The add-on has not yet been tested on Linux, Steam Deck or macOS. On those platforms it goes in the same WildStar settings folder inside the Wine prefix.
- Download the Field Kit: BezgelorFieldKit.zip.
-
Find your add-ons folder. Press the Windows key and R together, type
%APPDATA%\NCSOFT\WildStarand press Enter. A folder opens. If there is no folder calledAddonsin it, make one (right-click, New, Folder, and name itAddons). -
Unzip the download into that
Addonsfolder. You should end up withAddons\BezgelorFieldKit, with a file calledtoc.xmlinside it. (If you seeBezgelorFieldKit\BezgelorFieldKit, move the inner folder up one level.) -
Start the game and log in with a character. That's all: the game loads add-ons in the
Addonsfolder by itself, so there is nothing to tick. Type/fkto check it's there.
The Addons entry in the options menu before you log in (at the login and character screens)
is greyed out. That's normal, on every server: the game only lets you open it once you are in the
world. To see your add-ons, log in, press Esc and pick Addons; BezgelorFieldKit should be
listed there. If it says the add-on is out of date, tick Allow all out-of-date Addons to load
on that page and type /reloadui.
To remove it, delete the BezgelorFieldKit folder.
Open it
Any of these:
- the Interface Menu (the button at the bottom of your screen): Bezgelor Field Kit;
-
type
/fkin chat and press Enter (/fk buggoes straight to the bug report,/fk queststo your quests,/fk whyasks about your target); -
press Ctrl+Shift+F. To use another letter, type
/fk keyand the letter, for example/fk key j.
The line at the bottom of the window says whether the Field Kit is connected to the server.
Why isn't this working?
From the quest tracker. Right-click a quest in the quest tracker on the right of your screen. Under the game's own choices there are the Field Kit's:
- Why isn't this working? explains the quest, step by step;
- Report a problem opens the bug report with the quest filled in;
- Why? ... for each step you have not finished: the explanation of that step;
- Known issue: ... when we already know about a problem with the quest.
From your target. Right-click your target's portrait: Why isn't this working? says why you can't attack it, talk to it or use it, as far as the game can see.
The Quests page in the Field Kit window does the same for any quest in your log: click a quest and the answer appears below. For each step it says what it counts, how many are left, and where the creatures or things it needs are (near you, hidden from you until something happens, somewhere else in the area, all defeated for now, elsewhere in the world, or nowhere we know of). Under each step:
- Report a problem: the bug report with the quest, the step, the answer and your target already filled in. You only add your own words.
- Take me there: puts a pin on your map and points the arrow at the place.
Why? (my target) and Known issues do the same as /c why and /c known.
If we already know about a problem in one of the quests you track, the quest tracker shows a short note about it, with what you can do meanwhile.
Report a bug
The Report a bug page asks four short things:
- What it is about: a quest, combat, an item, a character in the world, and so on.
- The details. For a quest, your tracked quest is already picked; check it and say what went wrong. For combat, pick the ability from the ones you used last. For a creature or character, the Field Kit takes your target, or press Pick in the world and click on it.
- What happened, in your own words (up to 500 characters).
- A last look at what will be sent. Press Send.
The window says your report was sent and shows its number, and shows Sending your report... while it
goes. My reports lists your recent reports and what became
of them, and when a report's status changes while you are playing, the Field Kit tells you. Each
report reads as you wrote it: its heading (the quest, creature or ability it was about), then
You wrote: "..." (the tooltip has all of it), the date you filed it, its status and any reply
from the developers (We said:), so you can find the thing again and try it. News shows the same
lines for the fixes you helped with.
It is the same report as /c bug (reporting a bug): the server adds where
you are, your quest, your target and what you did last, and the same limits apply (a short wait
between reports, and a limit per hour).
If the Field Kit can't reach the server, the bottom line says so, and your report goes through the game's own Report a Bug message instead. It still reaches us.
A problem you reported is fixed: please check it
When a problem you reported is fixed and the fix is on the server, the Report a bug page says so in orange, and the Field Kit's entry in the Interface Menu lights up. My reports lists the report as fixed, please check it, with its words above three buttons:
- Take me there: a pin on your map and the arrow to the quest;
- Works now: closes the report; we send you a short thank-you mail;
- Still broken: type what still happens in the box that opens, and press Send. The report goes back to the developers with your words.
For testers
Testers (accounts the server lets use test commands) also see a Tester page. Other players don't see it, and the server refuses its requests from them anyway.
- Quest: type a quest id and press Look up, or press From my log and pick one. The card shows its title, level, the level it needs, its zone and who gives it.
- Steps: tick what you need: reset it first, raise your level (empty box: the level the quest needs), complete the quests before it, give you the quest, and go to its giver or its next step. Press Set it up: the steps run in that order, and each one reports how it went. A step that fails stops the rest.
- Recent setups remembers your last few setups on your own computer. Click one to fill the page in again. Nothing is stored on the server.
- Quick actions: ask why about your target, kill your target, revive yourself, go to the next step, go to a creature by its id, set your level.
- Teleport there appears next to Take me there on the Quests page and in My reports, for accounts allowed to teleport.
- My reports also lists the bugs the developers marked for a retest, each with Set it up: the quest reset, your level raised to it, the quest given and you at its giver.
Each of these is a command you can type too:
