Getting around

Nexus is big, and there are a few ways to cover it: sprinting, dashing, the Transmat Terminals, and Recall. None of it needs a command. Your own plot has a door out, too.

Sprinting

Hold Shift while you move and you sprint.

  • Out of combat it is free. You run faster and nothing is used up. The game sprints for you by default; Shift adds an extra burst of speed.
  • In combat it costs you. The sprint meter beside your health drains while you hold Shift, from full to empty in about five seconds. It does not refill while you are sprinting.
  • Let go and it refills, taking about 45 seconds from empty. Then you can sprint again.
  • If the meter runs out mid-sprint you slow to a normal run. Let go, wait a moment, and carry on.
  • You cannot sprint while you are dead or mounted.

Dashing

Double-tap a movement key — W, A, S or D — to dash a short way in that direction. Sprinting is a steady speed; a dash is a quick lunge. Dashing works in and out of combat.

  • You have two dashes, shown as two pips on the sprint meter.
  • Each pip refills in about 11 seconds. Use both in a row and you wait roughly 22 seconds for the pair to come back. A dash works again as soon as one pip is full.
  • If you double-tap and no dash is ready, the game says "Dash not ready". That is the meter, not a broken key.
  • The dash goes the way you tapped: forward, back, left or right.

Transmat Terminals and Recall

Many towns and camps have a Transmat Terminal. Use one to set the place your Recall takes you.

To set your recall point, use a Transmat Terminal (walk up to it and interact with it). A line appears over your character and in chat: "Recall point set: <place>." From then on, the Recall button on your bar is bound to that terminal.

To recall, click the Recall button. You cast for 10 seconds — moving cancels the cast, so stand still — then you travel to your terminal. Recall has a 20-minute cooldown, and the button shows it counting down.

The small arrow beside the Recall button opens its menu. Pick a destination there, then press Recall:

  • Transmat — the terminal you last bound to. The default once you have bound somewhere.
  • House — your own plot. Before you have bound to a terminal, this is what the button does.

Your house

You have a small sky plot of your own, and Recall: House (from the Recall menu) takes you there. The plot arrives with a ramp and an exit pad at its foot.

To leave your house, use any of these:

  • Stand on the exit pad by the plot and press F. The game offers the prompt as you step onto it, casts for a couple of seconds, then returns you to where you were before you came home.
  • Press Escape on the housing bar (the door icon). It goes to the same place as the pad.
  • Recall: House takes you home from anywhere; the pad and Escape are the way back out.

If you came home with a Recall or a teleport, the pad and Escape return you to wherever you were standing when you left.

Stuck in the scenery?

Type /c stuck in chat. After ten seconds of standing still it moves you to a safe place — the nearest Holo-Crypt (out in the world, at the camps' Transmat Terminals), your bind point, or the start of the instance. It is the answer when the world itself has trapped you. See getting unstuck for how it works and when it does not.
